What it is
KPV is the smallest fragment of alpha-MSH (a hormone your body makes) that still carries its anti-inflammatory effect — just three amino acids: lysine, proline, valine. Because it's so small and stable, it's studied in both injectable and oral forms, which is unusual for a peptide.
What the research looks at
- Inflammatory bowel models — the strongest research lane: oral KPV reduced colitis severity in multiple animal studies, apparently acting directly on gut cells.
- Skin inflammation — models of eczema, psoriasis-type inflammation, and wound infection.
- Anti-microbial effect — in-vitro activity against certain bacteria and fungi.
- What's missing — human clinical trials; it's preclinical across the board.
How protocols are commonly structured
Research-community protocols run around 250–500 mcg once daily, subcutaneous or oral, for 4–8 weeks. For gut-focused interest, oral dosing is commonly chosen on the logic of the animal-model route; for systemic or skin interest, subcutaneous.
