What it is
Epithalon is a synthetic version of epithalamin, a pineal-gland extract studied for decades by the Russian longevity school (Prof. Khavinson's institute). Just four amino acids, it's studied for one headline mechanism: telomerase activation — the enzyme that rebuilds the protective caps on chromosomes that shorten as cells age.
What the research looks at
- Telomerase & telomeres — in-vitro human cell studies showed telomerase activation and telomere elongation; treated cell lines exceeded their usual division limit.
- Long-term human cohorts — the striking data point: Khavinson's multi-year elderly cohorts reported meaningfully lower mortality in treated groups. Russian data, largely unreplicated in the West — hold it with appropriate care.
- Melatonin & sleep — normalizes pineal melatonin output in aged animals; circadian improvement is the commonly reported subjective effect.
- Antioxidant effects — elevated resistance to oxidative stress in models.
How protocols are commonly structured
The research-community pattern copies the Russian courses: 5–10 mg daily for 10–20 days, repeated once or twice a year — an intensive course model, not a daily-forever compound. Some split the dose morning/evening. Between courses: nothing. This makes it one of the cheapest longevity protocols per year to run.
