Reconstitution, Step by Step

How to turn a vial of powder into a correctly-dosed solution without contaminating it, wasting it, or guessing at the math.

Peptides ship as lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder because the molecules are fragile in solution. Reconstitution is just adding the right water back — done carefully, it's a two-minute job. Here's the whole process.

What you need

The steps

  1. Do the math first. Use the calculator: vial mg + water ml → concentration and your exact draw per dose. Choose the water amount so your dose lands in a measurable range (roughly 5–30 units on an insulin syringe).
  2. Wipe both vial tops with an alcohol wipe. Let them dry.
  3. Draw the bacteriostatic water into the transfer syringe.
  4. Inject the water slowly, down the inside wall of the vial — never jet it directly onto the powder. Peptides are fragile; turbulence shears them.
  5. Do not shake. Ever. Swirl gently or just let it sit — most peptides dissolve on their own in minutes.
  6. Label the vial — compound, concentration (e.g. "5,000 mcg/ml"), date mixed. Future-you with three vials in the fridge will thank present-you.
  7. Refrigerate (2–8 °C). Most mixed peptides hold ~4 weeks; details and exceptions on each compound's profile.
